Membership in the Vancouver Lions Club is open to all persons of good moral character and reputation who are over the age of 18. There are no limitations to membership based on business, profession, industry, employment, gender, gender identity, gender expression, religion, military service or affiliation.
How To Join
Membership in the Vancouver Lions Club, as with all Lions clubs, is by invitation.
You need to fill out and submit an application for membership to be invited.
You may apply for membership by filling out this form and clicking the “Submit” button at the end of the form. The information you provide on this form will not be shared with anyone outside the Vancouver Lions Club or to the extent necessary to register your membership with Lions Clubs International.
Paper applcation forms are also available from any Club member or can be downloaded here, and you may also contact the Club's membership chair for a paper application form, or if you have questions.
The Club membership chair will contact you following receipt of your application.
A current Club member will ordinarily sponsor your membership, although Lions from other clubs can (and do) sponsor new members to the Vancouver Lions Club.
You do not need a sponsor to submit a membership application— you may submit your application directly to the Club before you have a sponsor.
You will be asked to attend a Club meeting so Club members can meet you and you can meet them. Your application will then be presented to the Club's board of directors at a regular business meeting.
Once your membership is approved and you have paid an entrance fee and Club dues you will be inducted into the Club and Lions Clubs International, usually at regular club dinner meeting.
What Does It Cost
Annual dues for the Vancouver Lions Club is currently $90.00, which includes the “dues” for your membership in Lions Clubs International and Multiple District 19 of Lions Clubs International. Dues cover a fiscal year that runs from July 1 through June 30. Annual dues can be paid in installments. Initial dues are pro rated to the month you join.
There is a one–time “entrance fee” of $35.00, which the Club collects and then pays to Lions Clubs International.
If you are less than 30 years old and a student, there is no entrance fee and dues are discounted by $21.50.
If you and one or more family members join the Club, there is only one $35.00 entrance fee and each family member's dues after the first member (up to four additional members) are discounted by $21.50. Family Membership is open to family members who are (1) eligible for Lions membership, (2) currently in or joining the same club, and (3) living in the same household and related by birth, marriage or other legal relationship. Common household family members include parents, children, spouses, aunts and uncles, cousins, grandparents, in-laws and legal dependents.
There are no entrance fees for members who transfer from another Lions club to the Vancouver Lions Club within 12 months of leaving the other Lions club.
Graduating Leos, through the age of 30, who were Leos for at least one year, also pay no entrance fee and annual dues are discounted by $21.50.
